The film Eddie the Eagle tells the story of Michael Edwards, who is the most famous skier the United Kingdom has ever had, perhaps because it was the one who paved the way in this discipline.
In the UK there are hardly any ski resorts, and the ones there are not very good. Due to the terrain and the climate the snow is not abundant and the few seasons there are left to be desired.
Also, it should be noted that in the 1980s everything was more complicated, so that Michael Edwards did not have it easy to go skiing, and less to jumps, a mode unknown in England.
In spite of all the difficulties, Michael Edwards managed to go to the Olympic Winter Olympics in 1988, being the first British athlete of history to compete in this modality, something that had much merit if we consider the problems to practice this Discipline in UK.
